Higher Education Costs and Prices

Current concern over the price of a college education in the United States is not new. Over the years, Congress has issued numerous mandates and commissions to examine and explain escalating college costs and issues of affordability. AIR has taken the lead on a number of key studies and reports that have helped to clarify how colleges and universities spend their money, the impact of financial aid on both college costs and prices, and policies and practices that contribute to spiraling costs. Work for the National Commission on the Cost of Higher Education resulted in the report, Straight Talk about College Costs and Prices, a volume used in a number of higher education finance courses.
