Expert Review

In an expert review, two or more usability specialists take the perspective of users while they interact with a product. As the reviewers work, they comment on the strengths and weaknesses of the user interface, and offer recommendations for improvement. Given our experience watching people interact with complex products, we can point out aspects of a user interface likely to cause problems.

An expert review is often a cheaper and faster way to resolve user interface problems, and can provide a valuable outside perspective on the usability of an interface.
