In support of a confidential client’s large-scale change initiative, AIR conducted a comprehensive job analysis and competency modeling project.

The challenges of providing quality education to refugees are particularly pronounced in Kenya, which hosts hundreds of thousands of refugees in Kakuma and Dadaab, the largest refugee camp complex in the world. AIR is partnering with the World University Service of Canada and its local partner Windle Trust Kenya to rigorously evaluate the impact of the Equity in Education in Refugee Camps in Kenya program, which provides remedial education to grades 7 and 8 girls.

Oklahoma is among the states hardest hit by a combination of national trends in nonmedical uses of opioid prescription drugs, past-year heroin use, and opioid-related mortality. In response AIR is developing, implementing, and testing an intervention to support primary care providers in four regions of rural Oklahoma to adopt medication-assisted treatment (MAT) as an evidence-based strategy for treating persons with opioid use disorder.

The released EdSurvey version 1.0 is designed for the analysis of data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). It gives users the ability to process and analyze NAEP data efficiently, taking into account NAEP’s complex sample survey design and the use of plausible values. EdSurvey is an R statistical package developed by AIR, tailored to the processing and analysis of NCES large-scale education data with appropriate procedures.

Violence against children is an enormous challenge in Haiti. Recovering from political instability and natural disaster, Haiti has a weak service delivery system, as well as inadequate response and referral systems for child protection. There are ongoing efforts to quell family and community violence in Haiti, and AIR is working with a variety of local child protection stakeholders to address patterns of behavior and attitudes towards violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation of Haitian children.

The Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region is home to less than 8% of the world’s population, but its rates of crime and violence are some of the highest in the world, with 37% of all homicides. The Latin America and the Caribbean-Youth Violence Prevention project’s overarching goal is to improve the capacity of USAID and its partners to successfully implement crime and violence prevention programming in the region.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Chief Evaluation Office initiated an exploratory study to identify promising practices that first responder agencies and organizations can leverage to increase the diversity of their workforces.

The 2014 Attorney General’s Advisory Committee report on American Indian/Alaska Native Children Exposed to Violence proclaimed the need for a re-imagined and re-created tribal juvenile justice system focused on prevention, treatment, and healing. AIR and its partners seek to serve and support the vision of promoting the health and well-being of tribal youth, families, and communities by providing technical assistance to foster the development and implementation of innovative, culturally appropriate, and sustainable trauma-informed response models across all child-serving systems.
