With all eyes on college affordability, the Delta Cost Project makes a unique contribution to the dialogue by focusing on how colleges spend their money.

The Center on Aging addresses the many research and policy issues that arise in this context, using a broad brush that spans AIR’s subject areas and methodological reach. The Center serves AIR’s mission of improving the lives of the disadvantaged by bringing attention to aging issues and concerns, building on work already underway at AIR and also supporting projects on important emerging issues that may not yet be on the nation's policy agenda.

The College and Career Readiness and Success Center (CCRS Center) is dedicated to ensuring all students graduate high school ready for college and career success. The mission of the CCRS Center is to serve Regional Comprehensive Centers in building the capacity of states to effectively implement initiatives for college and career readiness and success. Through technical assistance delivery and supporting resources, the CCRS Center provides customized support that facilitates the continuous design, implementation, and improvement of college and career readiness priorities.

English language learners (ELLs) face the challenge of acquiring content knowledge in English at the same time as they acquire English as an additional language. These students can be supported by conducting rigorous research and evaluation to improve instruction and learning, evaluating policy to inform decision-making, and enhancing ELL practice at the district, school, and classroom level. The core of AIR's work supporting ELLs is done through the Center for English Language Learners.

The Center on Response to Intervention at the American Institutes of Research (AIR) continues the work of the National Center on Response to Intervention (NCRTI), which AIR ran from 2007-2012 with a grant from the Office of Special Education Programs. When the Center’s federal funding ended in 2012, AIR took over upkeep and maintenance of the Center’s website and products and continues to provide support for states, districts, and schools implementing RTI.

The goal for the Great Lakes Comprehensive Center is to provide high-quality technical assistance that focuses on key initiatives, aligns with the work of Department of Education content centers, and builds the capacity of State Educational Agencies to implement, support, scale up, and sustain initiatives statewide in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. GLCC also helps the SEAs to lead and support their districts and school in improving student outcomes while working closely with other technical assistance providers, regional comprehensive centers, national content centers, and the regional educational laboratories.

The Collaboration for Effective Educator Development, Accountability, and Reform (CEEDAR) Center’s primary objective is to partner with states to provide opportunities to learn for teachers and leaders. AIR works collaboratively and intensively alongside partners within 20 states over the course of the grant cycle.

The National Center for Analysis of Longitudinal Data in Education Research (CALDER) is a joint project of AIR and scholars at Duke University, Northwestern University, Stanford University, the University of Missouri, the University of Texas at Dallas, and the University of Washington.

The Texas Comprehensive Center (TXCC) is one of 15 regional comprehensive centers funded by the U.S. Department of Education. TXCC works closely with the Texas Education Agency, supporting their efforts to implement, scale up, and sustain initiatives statewide as well as lead and support their school districts and schools in improving student outcomes.
