Center for STEM Education and Innovation: Overview
21st Century Skills for All Students
AIR has developed the Center for STEM Education and Innovation to support the urgent national need to prepare more students for educational and career success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This Center is designed to meet demands for innovation and evidence. Our goal is to improve teaching and learning to prepare students with 21st century skills needed to thrive in the global economy. Our focus is on the needs of all students, particularly struggling and disengaged students, those with learning disabilities, English language learners, and students for whom traditional education is not working. This Center draws on AIR’s core competencies and depth of expertise across all educational levels, subjects, and domains. It builds on our commitment to meet the needs for models, exemplars, data, and information to inform practice and decisions that lead to significant enhancement of student success. Public–private partnerships among educators, policymakers, and grant makers are instrumental to the success of this effort.
