The Impact of the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) Program on Student Reading Achievement
The Institute of Education Sciences (IES) at the U.S. Department of Education has released a study of the impact of the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) program. MAP is one of the most widely used commercially available systems incorporating benchmark assessment and training in differentiated instruction. This study was designed to address questions about the extent to which benchmark assessment may affect teachers’ differentiated instructional practices and student achievement.
Conducted by AIR through the Regional Educational Laboratory Midwest, the study used a randomized design and involved 32 elementary schools in five districts in Illinois. The full report is available on the IES website.
