Informatics, Web Site Development and Information Management
Health Information Networks, Clearinghouses, Online Information Systems, Web Sites, Online Product Catalog and Publishing
- The goal of the project is to disseminate research advances to health care providers and the general public. AIR has used a variety of methods and approaches including extensive Web site development, provision of clearinghouse services, online catalog for ordering publications, liaisons with professional groups and the health care industry to promote widespread information of well-designed, appealing information via print and extensive Web site and usability testing to optimize effectiveness of materials.
Assessment of Medical Information Systems
- The goal of the project is to improve the effectiveness of medical information systems used by health care providers.
Development of Clinical Decision Support Systems
- AIR developed interactive computerized clinical decision support tools based on client clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for use on PCs, the Web, and PDAs by physicians and other health care providers. More than 290,000 of these programs have been downloaded from the NHLBI Health Information Network Web site and other Web sites and are now in widespread use nationwide.
Health Information Network (HIN)
- AIR provided technical and logistical support for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s Health Information Network, a system for information development, management, and dissemination that employs 21 st Century technology. AIR has developed an online Intranet accessible by the client and contractor which allows for rapid client-contractor communications and makes materials and information available to the staffs AIR also assisted NHLBI - Office of Prevention, Education, and Control to increase its Internet presence by not only improving its Web site design and content, but also by expanding its reach.
Survey of Research Integrity Measures Utilized in Biomedical Research Laboratories
- This project involved the design of a survey to evaluate measures used to promote research integrity in federally-funded biomedical research laboratories. AIR conducted an efficient, cost-effective, reliable, high response-rate survey sampling 6,000 scientists from a population of 25,000 NIH grantees.
- The National Science Foundation’s Knowledge and Distributed Intelligence (KDI) initiative is a grant-based, multidisciplinary research program that seeks to span the scientific and engineering communities to develop the next generation of human capability to generate, model, and represent more complex and cross-disciplinary scientific data from new sources and at varying scales. The primary goal of this project is to produce a Web site that serves both as an important flagship for the KDI project and demonstrates its special position as a platform for the next generation of collaborative, cross-disciplinary work in the sciences. Key target audiences for this site include members of Congress and their staff, science policy makers, and researchers.
- Prospect Center worked in partnership with key program staff from the Association of State and Territorial Directors of Health Promotion and Public Health Education (ASTDHPPHE) to redesign and develop a Web site for the ASTDHPPHE. The main emphasis of this task was to enhance the overall graphical "look and feel" of the site, utilizing existing and newly conceived ASTDHPPHE graphics/logo and other design elements to convey the desired public health promotion/education flavor and visual appeal, and to improve the navigation and user interface. Content for this new site was based on existing information available on the ASTDHPPHE 's current Web site.
