Reducing Hospital Associated Infections (HAIs)

AIR and Carilion Medical Center worked together to identify the challenges of implementing patient safety initiatives to decrease hospital associated infections. Comparison among six rural hospitals examined factors that facilitated or hindered these efforts.

Using survey data, case studies and interviews, AIR identified effective and ineffective patient safety practices. These findings provided the impetus for a (pending) publication that addressed organizational issues related to patient safety.
