Beth Almeida is a principal researcher with the Center on Aging at AIR. Her research spans issues facing the workforce in an aging society, retirement, and long-term services and supports. A nationally recognized expert on retirement security, Almeida’s research has been the subject of testimony before the U.S. Congress, federal agencies, and state legislatures, as well as being covered in national and trade media.
Prior to joining AIR in 2015, Almeida served as the executive director of the National Institute on Retirement Security, and as a senior economist/assistant director of strategic resources for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. She serves on the ERISA Advisory Council having been appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Labor. Almeida has also served on the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Labor Research Advisory Council, was elected to the Executive Board of the Labor and Employment Research Association, and was appointed as a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance.
