Miguel Socias, Ph. D., is a Research Scientist at AIR. Dr. Socias works on the Special Education Expenditure Project (SEEP) and is responsible for designing and testing theoretical frameworks that help explain the relationship between students’ needs and educational expenditures. He designs sophisticated econometric techniques to estimate causal relationships between special education students’ characteristics and their educational expenditures. Miguel Socias joined AIR in July of 2003. Prior to this, Dr. Socias was at Stanford University obtaining a Ph.D. in Education and an M.A. in Economics.
