Jamie Shkolnik
Senior Research Scientist
Jamie Shkolnik, Senior Research Scientist, received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California at San Diego, where she researched school resource allocation and its effects on education. She has written papers on the effects of class size and ability grouping on student achievement. Dr. Shkolnik is a Senior Research Scientist in the Education group at AIR. Her areas of specialization are education finance, econometrics, cost analysis, and school resource allocation. Dr. Shkolnik recently contributed to the Special Education Expenditure Project (SEEP), where her primary responsibilities included database development -- combining questionnaire data, district-level budget data, and personnel data; statistical analyses of expenditures on special education programs; and technical report writing. She also served as the deputy project director on the evaluation of California’s Class Size Reduction, where she supervised the analyses and writing of reports and performed a study of the effects of teacher characteristics on student achievement in smaller classes using data collected from six large California districts.
