Principal Research Scientist
Dwayne Norris, Ph.D., is a Principal Research Scientist at AIR with over 12 years experience in HR and personnel consulting. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Virginia Tech University. His work deals with job and occupational analysis, selection and certification, performance management, organizational surveys, and data analysis. Currently, Dr. Norris is the Project Director for the development and maintenance of the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC) selection program for electrical workers. In addition to the selection work for NJATC, Dr. Norris is leading the development of an electrical worker certification program and an attitude survey of apprentices. Dr. Norris is also leading a validation study for the College Board that will assess the predictive and incremental validity of the new writing section of the SAT. Dr. Norris recently worked with the U.S. Navy to develop competency models to facilitate the training and career progression for select officer and enlisted ratings. Dr. Norris was also involved in a similar effort—job task analysis of systems specialist positions—for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Dr. Norris is an expert in personnel and organizational psychology, applied research methodology, program evaluation, and statistics/data analysis.
