Kellie Kim, Ph.D.

Research Analyst

Dr. Kellie Kim joined AIR in November 2003. She currently works on the National Center on Student Progress Monitoring, where she conducts literature reviews; project coordination and collaboration; and development of written products. Dr. Kim is also involved in the 3 + 2 Review, which assists OSEP in evaluating 5-year projects after 3 years in operation. For this project, she analyzes assessments provided by review panels and develops written synthesis of findings and recommendations.

Prior to joining AIR, Dr. Kim served as a Policy Research Analyst for AARP. She has conducted policy analyses and research on a wide range of social and legislative issues affecting the quality of life for older Americans and their families. She also has several years of research experience on a wide range of general and special education issues. She was involved in writing of the Annual Report to Congress on the Implementation of IDEA and other reports on special population for OSEP. Other project research experience involves bilingual education, early literacy, Head Start, and Work Force development. While working at the Beach Center on Families, University of Kansas as a Post-doctoral researcher, Dr. Kim was involved in a NIDRR grant on Family Quality of Living concerning families of young children with disabilities.

Dr. Kim is also a parent of a teenage daughter with disabilities and has served on the board of the Arc of Northern Virginia and participated in many national conferences and leadership trainings on self-determination and independent living. She received her doctorate in Human Development and M.A. in International Affairs from the George Washington University.
