Stephanie Jackson
Managing Director
Stephanie Jackson, Ph.D., Managing Director at AIR, directs policy, research, and evaluation studies for Federal, state, and other private policymakers. Dr. Jackson has more than 30 years of experience in a variety of educational environments, including general and special education settings, magnet schools, charter schools, and higher education. She has been recognized for her educational leadership in schools and her practical and realistic perspective to foster the learning of all students, including students with disabilities.
Dr. Jackson is co-project director of the Task Ordering Contract for the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). She is responsible for assisting OSEP to assume a proactive stance to communicating research-based knowledge for improving results for children with disabilities to multiple audiences. From 1999-2001, Dr. Jackson was the co-deputy director for the Center for Effective Collaboration and Practice. In this role, she supported the mission to promote programs that foster the development and the adjustment of children with or at risk of developing emotional disturbance. She is a co-author of Safe, Supportive, and Successful Schools Step by Step that gives schools practical information for establishing safe and healthy educational environments.
Prior to coming to AIR, Dr. Jackson worked as a general education and special education teacher, a special education administrator, an elementary school principal, and as the associate director of a research institute in a large, urban university. Her education includes a BA in elementary education, an MA in special education, and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction and educational administration.
