Julia Hunter Galdo
Managing Director, Public Communication
Julia Hunter Galdo is senior communications counsel at AIR. For more than 30 years, she has managed national communications and marketing programs primarily in the fields of health, education, and community development, with a particular focus on reaching low-income and underserved populations. At AIR, she manages terrorism communication work for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, including training public health officials from across the nation. She is co-author of the CDC’s Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication and is currently preparing guides for the media, first responders and public officials, as well as the American public. She also provides communication strategy to education projects including the Office of Special Education Programs of the Department of Education.
Before joining AIR, Ms. Galdo was senior vice president of Matthews Media Group, where she oversaw work for clients including NCI and the National Health Service Corps. From 1992 to 1999, Ms. Galdo was a corporate officer and director of communications and information services at Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation, where her division supported the communications and outreach work of community-based organizations serving over 2,000 communities in 47 states. Prior to joining Neighborhood Reinvestment, Ms. Galdo headed Galdo Communications. Among her clients were Reading Is FUNdamental, the National Association for the Southern Poor, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the sponsorship program of Special Olympics International.
