Senior Research Analyst
Stephanie Cronen, Ph.D., a Senior Research Analyst at AIR, has extensive experience in designing and managing research projects, collecting and analyzing quantitative data, and writing publications on current educational topics. Recent reports and briefs cover such contemporary issues as school safety, teacher quality, teacher's use of educational technology, the physical condition of public schools, and adult literacy.
As Deputy Director of the What Works Clearinghouse (WWC), she manages the development of standards and processes for conducting systematic reviews of research studies that make causal inferences about interventions’ effectiveness. Dr. Cronen also participated in designing the "What Works" for Adult ESL Literacy Students study. Dr. Cronen was responsible for managing the longitudinal collection of data from ESL programs and students across the country for this study, and participated in the design of the observation instruments and the analysis and reporting of results.
Dr. Cronen has also demonstrated proficiency in conducting secondary data analyses and writing research briefs and reports for the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). Dr. Cronen provides technical support to NCES through its Fast Response Survey System and various task ordering projects. Dr. Cronen received her Ph.D. in experimental social psychology from Washington University.
