Wayne Brandes, DO MPH
Principal Informatics Scientist
Dr. Wayne Brandes is a board-certified family practice physician with more than 18 years experience in clinical medicine, public health, and medical informatics. He is currently Director of Healthcare Informatics at AIR’s Health Program. Dr. Brandes provides subject-area expertise in clinical health care and in information technology projects in the health care and public health fields. Dr Brandes is AIR’s Project Director on the SAMHSA Opioid Partial Agonist Implementation project, and the SAMHSA Opioid Treatment Program Accreditation and Certification Database project. In these roles Dr Brandes manages a team of public health professionals and subcontractors, and is responsible for routine and ad hoc project reporting, including monthly and annual progress and financial reports.
Dr. Brandes works part-time at the Howard County (Maryland) Health Department addictions clinic. Prior to joining AIR in 2000, Dr. Brandes completed the Public Health/Preventive Medicine Residency at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Previously he was in private practice in Flagstaff, Arizona, served as Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee for the Coconino County Arizona Board of Health, and completed a Family Practice Residency in Tucson, Arizona in 1990.
