Andrea Berger

Senior Research Analyst

Andrea Berger, Ph.D., a Senior Research Analyst at AIR, focuses her research in the areas of secondary and postsecondary education. Although she primarily utilizes quantitative methodologies, she is also adept at qualitative approaches. Since coming to AIR, Dr. Berger has overseen several projects. Currently, she is project director of the Evaluation of the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education, being conducted for the Policy and Program Studies Service. She is also co-director of a national evaluation of early college high schools for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. For several years, she has been the deputy director of a national assessment of college student literacy using NCES’ NAAL assessment materials (funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts). As part of these projects she has authored several reports. Dr. Berger recently co-authored a report on state funded program that link professional work to financial aid. She was the primary author of two NCES reports based on the 1999 National Study of Postsecondary Faculty (NSOPF: 99). Dr. Berger received a Ph.D. in Social and Personality Psychology with a concentration in quantitative data analysis from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
