Research Scientist
Alexander Alonso, Ph.D., is a Research Scientist in AIR’s Workforce Research and Analysis Program. His responsibilities include conducting organizational analyses, designing and evaluating training programs, and conducting survey research targeted towards minorities and cross-cultural issues. Some of his recent projects include: testing the usability of background questionnaires and training programs with hospital staff at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center; developing a review protocol for cumulative analyses on studies of the impact of single-gender versus coeducational schools on student outcomes; developing and pilot testing an observational measure of performance in healthcare systems to be translated and used with minority populations; developing an assessment tool for teacher knowledge of student content engagement; and developing a revised team training program for Department of Defense medical teams. Prior to joining AIR, Dr. Alonso served as a Research Assistant at Florida International University’s Department of Psychology where he examined the linguistic effects of cross-cultural bias on the translation of organizational measures using bilinguals and monolinguals of a foreign language. He also served as a Training & Development Manager for an international insurance provider and the Chilean national airline in the western hemisphere over the course of the last seven years. Dr. Alonso received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Florida International University.
