News: AIR Evaluation of First 5 LA Family Literacy Initiative Shows Increased Attendance Rates and Test Scores for Elementary School Students
Elementary school students who participated in First 5 LA’s Family Literacy Initiative before they began kindergarten exhibited better performance on the California Standards Tests (CST) in English language arts and mathematics than their peers, according to new findings from an eight-year evaluation of the initiative by the American Institutes for Research (AIR).

News: Online Algebra Course Leads to Higher Achievement
Eighth-grade students who are “algebra ready” and take an online Algebra I course because their schools do not offer the class, outperform their peers in algebra knowledge and are twice as likely to take advanced mathematics classes in high school. The findings are in a rigorous new federally funded study conducted by the American Institutes for Research (AIR) and Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC) for the Regional Educational Laboratory Northeast and Islands (REL-NEI).

News: New Study Shows College Retention Rates Improved by Targeting Students Receiving Pell Grants for Supplemental State Aid
A study by the American Institutes for Research and Noel-Levitz has found that targeting supplemental financial aid to students receiving Pell grants in Louisiana improved retention rates by more than 14 percent.
