AIR's international projects have involved more than 80 countries, with work concentrated in four areas:
Our activities are designed to effectively address problems and challenges facing education in a variety of international settings. Recent contributions have centered on increased access to education for girls, improved student learning, curriculum development and teacher training, strategies for reform in newly independent states, education interventions to combat child labor, the development and dissemination of improved methodological approaches for student assessment, and the design and implementation of behavioral change campaigns to fight the spread and impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic and other catastrophic diseases.
Our technical assistance work in both developed and developing countries has been designed to improve the quality of information about education internationally and increase our understanding of countries' education systems, as well as facilitate change in attitudes and behaviors impeding development and economic growth.
