At AIR we view communications as a tool to help people achieve healthier lives. Strategic planning and a strong audience orientation are central to AIR’s Communication work. We helped pioneer the Consumer-based Health Communication model that is frequently used in social marketing programs across the country.
Since September 2001, our work has become increasingly involved in crisis and emergency risk communications (ERC), and is helping to shape this emerging discipline, specifically addressing the unique communication challenges raised by national crises and public health emergencies. We’ve developed national and state-level training and education programs to build ERC skills across various sectors, lead training efforts across the country, and participated in national training exercises. In addition, we create public education and preparedness programs.
