Financing and Cost Containment
The financing and cost containment challenges facing both public health programs and private insurance are a key area of research. The rising costs of health care in an environment in which one in every seven dollars of gross domestic product goes to health adds urgency to this effort.
AIR’s research in this area includes examining “pay for performance” approaches to hospital payment and estimating the out-of-pocket burdens on Medicare beneficiaries.
