    AIR experts played a major role in producing the latest edition of The Condition of Education 2011, a congressionally mandated annual report that provides a definitive look at developments and trends in U.S. education. Released by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the report projects that enrollment in U.S. schools is expected to grow through the decade, as the U.S. population increases.

    Report: Middle School Mathematics Professional Development Impact Study: Findings After the Second Year of Implementation

    This study examines the impact of intensive mathematics professional development (PD) on teachers' knowledge and teaching skills for 7th grade mathematics in rational number topics such as fractions, decimals, percent, ratio, and proportion. The intensive PD studied includes over 100 hours of support in the form of summer institutes, seminars, and in-school coaching.

    The Study of School Turnaround (SST) is an examination of the implementation of School Improvement Grants (SIG) authorized under Title I section 1003(g) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). This IES-funded baseline report provides an overview of the state policies and practices for SIG implementation as well as a description of the first round of SIG awards made to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and SIG-eligible schools.

    Report: Research Study of Texas Dual Credit Programs and Courses

    The Texas dual credit program allows high school students to earn both high school and college credits for completing courses offered by institutions of higher learning. AIR conducted a research study for the Texas Education Agency TEA and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board THECB, exploring the variations in the administration, cost, accessibility, and student participation in dual credit programs across the state. The study relied on two main data sources: (1) existing administrative data on students participating in dual enrollment courses and (2) telephone surveys of administrators.
