Teacher and Leader Effectiveness
Having a highly effective teacher is the most important school-based factor in student achievement. Students need strong teachers and schools need strong leaders to ensure the best educational outcomes.
Through research, evaluation, and technical assistance, AIR is leading the effort to increase the number of highly effective teachers and principals in schools across the country. We design educator evaluation systems, train school leaders, and help ensure that those schools that are hardest to staff can attract and retain effective educators.
We support the development of highly effective teachers by improving teacher preparation, compensation strategies, professional development, and innovative approaches to measuring teacher practice and student outcomes.
