Carolyn Corea

Senior Researcher

Carolyn Corea is a senior researcher at AIR and leads the lead for Evidence-to-Action (E2A) portfolio. Building on her background in social work, she is committed to bringing actionable evidence to the field to inform the work of policymakers and practitioners. Corea is well versed in conducting social program research and evaluation with extensive experience conducting qualitative data collection and analysis to inform and support employment and human service programs. 

Corea is currently serving as the deputy project director for the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) innovative E2A project for which she oversees the design and implementation of knowledge syntheses and pilot projects designed to translate research into a range of easy-to-use resources for nontechnical audiences including policymakers, program practitioners, individuals with lived experience, and the general public. She recently served as the deputy project director and agency engagement lead for the U.S. DOL’s Evidence Capacity Assessment which involved conducting a strengths-based assessment of the DOL’s capacity to use and produce evidence. Corea has also supported multiple large-scale evaluation studies including two behavioral trials funded by the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Employment and Training Administration. 

Corea has led literature reviews, environmental scans, and implementation studies of workforce development training programs aimed at supporting vulnerable populations through the U.S. DOL’s Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training and Workforce Innovation Fund grants as well as other DOL-funded programs.
