Disease Prevention
To prevent disease, it is necessary to understand the ideas and attitudes that underlie destructive health behaviors and convert them into positive actions. Our disease prevention efforts aim to take individuals and communities beyond knowledge and empower them to motivate change. AIR has expertise in developing content, materials, and programs that resonate with the target audience and lead to behavior change. We provide disease prevention expertise to clients to mobilize policymakers, health professionals, consumers, organizations at the national and community levels, the media, and others into a community ready for action. AIR uses audience-driven research to develop public health campaigns and design award-winning disease prevention/health promotion materials and Web sites.

Disproportionality Issues in Special Education
AIR plays a leading role in providing states with support for responding to disproportionality in special education through the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP)-funded centers such as the National Center on Response to Intervention (RTI), the K-8 Access Center, and the Elementary and Middle School TA Center (EMSTAC). In addition to working with individual states, AIR staff collaborate on this topic with the Harvard Civil Rights Project, presenting at numerous national conferences and providing training to educators in local districts and schools.
