AIR has nationally recognized experts who address the needs of persons with disabilities, their families, and their service providers. AIR has expertise in federal and state policies in early intervention, special education, and vocational rehabilitation. We are also experts in translating rigorous research into improved practice in states and localities across the country.

• National Disability Policy: A Progress Report

  AIR contributed to the development of National Disability Policy: A Progress Report, released on October 31, 2011 by the National Council on Disability. This annual progress report describes the current state of people with disabilities in America.

• Improving Outcomes for Youth with Disabilities in the Juvenile Justice System

  Series of monographs addressing the issue of youth with cognitive or behavioral disabilities and their experiences in the juvenile justice system.

Recent Projects

• The National High School Center

  

  Millions of high school students—particularly those with disabilities, with limited proficiency in English, or from low-income backgrounds—need additional support in order to succeed. To address this challenge, the National High School Center promotes the use of research-supported approaches that help all students learn and become adequately prepared for college, work, and life.
