Areas of Expertise
AIR’s work in HIV/AIDS involves the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID). Through CDC, we oversee the development and implementation of the Act Against AIDS Campaign, the first national HIV prevention campaign focused on the domestic epidemic in over 20 years that leverages efforts in the public and private sectors. Additionally, AIR provides a comprehensive media relations program for the Office of Communications at CDC’s National Center for HIV, STD and TB Prevention (NCHSTP). Through NIAID, AIR provides HIV/AIDS communication strategies and support to the Office of Communications and Government Relations.
This report, published in the peer-reviewed journal Public Health Reports in a special supplemental issue about sexual health, describes the results of AIR's research and testing about how best to communicate with the public about sexual health issues.
