Each webinar in the series highlights perspectives from experts in policy, practice, programs, and people to support a more holistic response to the overdose epidemic and to examine the interactions between social structures and the people they are designed to support.

Social Determinants of Addiction 101 (Webinar 1)

Social Determinants of Addiction 101 provided an overview of the series, beginning with a focus on how the social determinants of health are related to addiction. Our panelists reviewed the key policies that play a role in the field of addiction, discussed the importance of centering the needs of people who use drugs, and provided results from research connecting the social determinants of health to overdose.

Healthcare Access and Quality as a Social Determinant of Addiction (Webinar 2)

This webinar focused on policy efforts to improve healthcare access and treatment for substance use disorder, the lived experience of barriers to treatment, and racial equity in addiction treatment. Panelists discussed harm reduction as treatment, sourcing sustainable harm reduction services, and healthcare financing for harm reduction organizations.

This webinar focused on efforts to provide workplace accommodations for those with substance use disorder and best practices for retaining valuable employees irrespective of their drug use. Panelists represented employee and employer perspectives and shared practical solutions for how employers can create spaces that are conducive to individuals with substance use disorder.
