Federal Statistics Program

Program Director - Laura Salganik

AIR’s Federal Statistics Program, formerly known as the Education Statistics Services Institute (ESSI), works with the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), which is the federal government’s primary source for collecting and analyzing statistical data about public education in the United States and around the world.

The information provided by our experts contributes to the development of high-quality statistics about education that inform discussion and debate at the decision-making levels of national, state and local governments.

NCES, part of the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences, fulfills a congressional mandate to collect, analyze, and report statistics and information showing the condition and progress of education in the United States and other nations in order to promote and accelerate the improvement of American education.
